iLEAD Lancaster Exploration Learner Grace Khosrowabadi Receives SSA Flight Scholarship

Congratulations to emerging young pilot Grace Khosrowabadi for receiving a Soaring Society of America flight scholarship! Grace was a participant in the iLEAD course called Intro to Piloting. Learners from SCVi, iLEAD Lancaster Exploration, iLEAD Antelope Valley Exploration, iLEAD Exploration, and iLEAD Antelope Valley Studio met virtually to discuss the FAA requirements to become a pilot, receive flight scholarship guidance, and hear from industry experts. Ultimately, they shared in the adventure of learning to fly at events held at Skylark North Gliding School in Tehachapi.

Grace is in 8th grade at iLEAD Lancaster Exploration. She received the news of her award this month. We asked Grace about her experiences with flight, and here’s what she had to say.

Why do you want to learn to fly and how do you see it impacting your future?

I want to learn to fly because a big dream of mine since I was younger is to get my pilot license. In addition, my goal is to become a doctor. I want to find a way to combine the things I love and maybe become an air medic.

How did the Intro to Piloting course impact you?

I’ve had the amazing opportunity to talk to so many different people and learn about different programs to help me work toward my goal of becoming a pilot.

What are some of your favorite things?

My favorite books are The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. My favorite hobbies are painting and roller skating, and my favorite food is my mom’s jalapeño lime soup.

What’s a fact about yourself that others might not know?

Something that people don’t know about me is that I have been playing piano since I was seven and can now play six instruments.

The Intro to Piloting program has affected my life greatly, and I appreciate everyone who helps run and organize it!
