5th Graders Supercharge Science
In 5th grade this week, learners are mastering the skills it takes to multiply and divide decimals, as well as work through word problems. The second project of the year is well under way, and learners are learning about the elements of the Periodic Table. Each learner is researching their specific element and answering the driving question “How can I, as a researcher, create a model city that accurately represents my knowledge of my element?” This project has three parts: the comic book depicting their element as a superhero; a poster board with a description and pictures of the element as well as a demonstration of the learner’s ability to identify the location on the Periodic Table and showing their element in play and an “Element City,” which is a model city created by each learner that the superhero from the comic book would live in. The learners are supercharged with their project!
