Monday Message for December 10, 2017

Message from the Director

Hello iLEAD Families,

I can’t believe the year is flying by so rapidly, it’s almost winter break! Our learners are making great progress in building culture on our campus. Their smiling faces brighten all of our days. I really appreciate the feeling of family that is developing as I walk through the halls. Our staff is showing tremendous growth in making sure that your learners’ academics and social-emotional sense of community is most important.

A special thank you to all of our families and staff who attended and volunteered at the Winter Boutique. Building our iLEAD family community through supporting our local families is so important to us. I encourage you to take advantage of these events. They happen often and they are so fun! Our next event is our annual winter production. This event is taking place at Highland High School on Jan. 19. Come and see your learners perform songs, spoken word, and skits. There are three shows to serve your family. Additional information is below.

Please join us for a coffee and conversations with me tomorrow at our ED Talk in the village. Our iSupport meeting is coming up Tuesday at 6 p.m.. Join us to stay in the know on all of the fundraising, climate changing, and culture building initiatives our parents are planning for our school.

Thank you!

Our Apologies! Parents Night Out…

Unfortunately our Parents Night Out event last Friday was canceled due to lack of registration and participation. We thought we contacted the few families who did register but it has come to our attention that we may have missed you. It is with sincere apologies that we did not get in touch with those who attended the event not knowing. We always place notifications first and we fell short this time around. Please contact Kristan if you are one of those families, we have a special treat for you! We will have another one in February so please keep that in mind as you make your Valentine’s Day plans.

Winter Production Coming Jan. 19

Winter Production:

  • Where? Our Winter production will be held at Highland High School, 39055 25th St W, Palmdale, CA 93551
  • WHEN? Jan. 19, 2018. We will host three showings for your convenience.

Last names:

A-H, 5-6 p.m.

I-P, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Q-Z, 7:45-8:45 p.m.

  • My last name time doesn’t work for my family, what do I do? If a time doesn’t work for you, please let your facilitator know which time you will be attending so we can plan to support.
  • My family has multiple last names, what do I do? If your family falls into multiple times, just pick one and let their facilitator know.
  • Will my learner be part of the show? Each learner will be part of the show. From the set design, design tech performances, class performances, hosting and stage help, each learner is part of the show. This is such a fun event every year and we sincerely hope we can plan on you attending.
  • How do I buy tickets? Tickets on sale in the office beginning Friday, Dec. 1, 5:30 p.m. at the Winter Boutique. Sales will continue through the 13th for $5. On the 14th cost is $8 at the door if available. THIS IS ALSO A FUNDRAISER, so your $5 pre sale donation and $8 if available at the door goes directly back into our school!
  • When do we need to arrive? Learners must arrive 10 minutes before show time and will be checked in with their facilitator. Doors will open five minutes before show time. Please prep for cold weather and standing. *Unfortunately late learners will have to wait for the following show. We will do our best to accommodate your family if this happens.
  • Drop off and pick up of my learner takes at least 10 minutes! Please be patient dropping off and picking up as the safety of your child is our biggest concern. Drop off instructions to follow in your facilitator updates and via parent square. Bring your valet card for faster pick up.

iLEAD Lancaster Participates in Toys for Tots

We will be collecting new toys for our community by partnering with Toys for Tots. If you can find it in your heart to support, please send in an unwrapped toy any time. We have met so many of you who, at a time when hardship may have struck your lives, have received these needed toys for your families. Now is the time to pay it forward. A great opportunity to do so would be our Winter Boutique event on Dec. 1. We thank you for supporting our community.

Jan. 24: Family Night Out at Chipotle!

Monday Message

Did you know that there may be multiple pages of the Monday Message you are missing every week by not scrolling to the bottom? Now also available: PDF’s of the Monday Message in the front office by noon on Monday. We are working on a Spanish version — please let us know if this is something you would like to earn volunteer hours for.

Please let us know how we can help you stay informed. Email Kristan with your ideas.

Traffic is a BEAST! This is how we slay…

Hello parents! We encourage the use of VALET for all drop-off and pickup for safety reasons. K-4 is a busy commerce street and we value the safety of our learners! Remember, if you are not using valet, all children should be walked to the front door by their parent/guardian. Learners without a chaperone will warrant a call home.

  • No learners will be released without a valet card and proper ID.
  • Please always enter our lots via driving eastbound on K-4, DO NOT turn left into our driveways and always pull as far to the right (curb) as you can get when using the valet line. PLEASE PULL TO THE CURB WHEN WAITING FOR VALET TO BEGIN. STAGGERING PICKUP PREVENTS A BACKUP DOWN AVENUE K-4. Blocking traffic is illegal Please DO NOT park in our neighbors’ lots — your vehicle will be towed.
  • Be very mindful when choosing where to park when visiting our campus for any reason. If you need to drop off your learner and valet is over, please park and walk your learner in. Learners without a parent cannot be properly checked in late.
  • Please do not double park or pull up and let your learner out in front of the school, ever. It is very dangerous.
  • Please remember that our neighbors are very supportive of our site — despite the impact we have on their daily operations — and that all of our neighbors love iLEAD. Let’s show them the same support by parking in iLEAD parking lots ONLY as well as not blocking driveways and always yielding to our neighbors when using valet.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our learners and your vehicles safe!

About Those Heelys…

We’ve seen an influx of Heelys on campus. Learners are zipping along the halls and on the play spaces. While we LOVE fun and seeing our learners enjoying themselves, we have to ask that they don’t use the wheels while at school. Please understand this is a safety concern for learners and staff. We want to prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. Heelys brand shoes can be worn, — just please remove the wheels for school.

General safety guidelines also include no skateboards or bicycles being ridden on campus; they must be carried and walked.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
