Attendance at iLEAD Lancaster
With the new year comes a reminder about the importance of attendance at iLEAD Lancaster. Because we are a project-based school, attendance is vital. Project-based learning requires collaboration, discussions, working in cohorts, and research. In addition, the facilitators confer daily with small groups in the areas of math and reading to ensure our learners are reaching their academic goals. These are all valuable components that cannot be made up with worksheets and will impact learning progress and grades if your child misses frequently.
In addition, when a learner is absent it has a significant impact on our school budget. As a public school, our funding is dependent upon each day the learners are present for school. Thousands of dollars were lost this past semester due to numerous absences. These funds could have gone to programs to further enhance learning at iLEAD Lancaster, hiring specialized facilitators for music and foreign language, or to support other areas of our program. Missing just one day can have an effect. With the exception of illness, we strongly encourage you to bring your child to school each day for optimum learning and academic and social success.
If you know your child will be missing three or more days of school, please arrange with your child’s facilitator and the iLEAD Lancaster office for your child to placed on Independent Study.
