Message from the Director

Hello iLEAD Lancaster Families,

As the 2017-18 school year comes to a close I would like to take the time to thank you all for your continued support this year. We have many things to celebrate but a few of my favorite highlights are that we increased enrollment, which helps us to offer new exciting programs and experiences. We also had some beautiful presentations of learning where we witnessed lots of cross collaboration between grade levels. Our field studies to Rileys Farms, Outdoor Science school and inner city Los Angeles, just to name a few, have taught our learners a deeper understanding of their projects, leading to thoughtful presentations of learning. Our greatest accomplishment is that we became a “Leader in Me” school, which has helped us grow by leaps and bounds in our culture on campus. We have shown deeper interest in our social-emotional components of learning and in building a community of restorative practices. A big shout out to our wonderful staff for their dedication this year.

It’s been an adventurous first year as school director and I am looking forward to growing with you next year. I plan to enjoy the summer building on our calendars, staff development and future goals while enjoying some family time sharpening the saw. I hope to start this next school year with you on Aug. 21 at 8:30 a.m., with a proactive mindset and a drive to ensure all of you feel connected and supported. One of my goals for next year is to develop our STEAM integration and to develop more collaborative opportunities for our families. If you have ideas on how we can encourage parent involvement on campus please email us here.

I would like to close by thanking our amazing, small-but-mighty parent/volunteer group who is here day in and day out working tirelessly to assist facilitators, plan and implement events, booth in the community, and clean and repair our campus. Without you, our school wouldn’t be what it is, thank you.

Keep an eye on your email for our Monday Messages this summer. They won’t be every week but they will carry key information for your learner to be successful next year. Our Meet the Facilitator event will be held on Aug. 20. Save the date and watch for your invitation.

Thank you for an amazing year,

Nykole Kent
