Ballroom Dancing

iLEAD has an after-school ballroom program for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade learners. If your child is interested in learning four ballroom dances and competing with other schools in February, come to the 4th grade space on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Permission slips and paperwork will be given when your child comes to practice. We teach etiquette and proper dance behavior. We’d love to have a wonderful ballroom team this year. It’s dancing with the iLEAD stars!

Celebrating Habit 6: Synergize

Innovate and problem-solve with those who have a different point of view. To put it simply, synergy means “two heads are better than one.”

Synergizing is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn’t just happen on its own. It’s a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Together, they can produce far better results that they could individually. Synergy lets us discover jointly things we are much less likely to discover by ourselves. It is the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Updates from Our Drone Team

The iLEAD Drone Team competes and demonstrates what iLEAD empowerment is all about! On Day 3 of competition in Brisbane at the Outback Challenge, they finished with excitement. Team Hybrid performed very well and successfully dropped all 3 attempts! They faced many obstacles and overcame many challenges, but continued to push forward with confidence and enthusiasm!

Twenty-six teams entered the UAV Challenge, and Team Hybrid placed 11th in their first year competing! We are so very proud of these learners and the accomplishments they have made. It took lots of practice, failures, and wins to make it here and perform well! Our fellow Antelope Valley teams swept 1-3! Go Team Hybrid!

iSupport Meeting a Success

Last Monday, several parents and our new iSupport team met to discuss the volunteering program at iLEAD Lancaster. Our new Director of Family Engagement, Charlene, was there to introduce a new system and discuss growth for our school. If you missed it, she can be contacted by emailing Charlene.spiteri@ileadfoundation.org

A date for our next meeting will be shared soon. Thank you to everyone who attended.

Traffic is a BEAST! This is How We Slay…

Hello, parents! We encourage the use of VALET for all dropoff and pickup for safety reasons. K-4 is a busy commerce street, and we value the safety of our learners! Remember, if you are not using valet, all children should be walked to the front door by their parent/guardian. Learners without a chaperone will warrant a call home.

  • No learners will be released without a valet card and proper ID.
  • Please always enter our lots via driving eastbound on K-4. DO NOT turn left into our driveways and always pull as far to the right (curb) as you can get when using the valet line. PLEASE PULL TO THE CURB WHEN WAITING FOR VALET TO BEGIN. STAGGERING PICKUP PREVENTS A BACKUP DOWN AVENUE K-4. Blocking traffic is illegal. Please DO NOT park in our neighbors’ lots — your vehicle will be towed.
  • Be very mindful when choosing where to park when visiting our campus for any reason. If you need to drop off your learner and valet is over, please park and walk your learner in. Learners without a parent cannot be properly checked in late.
  • Please do not double-park or pull up and let your learner out in front of the school, ever. It is very dangerous.
  • Please remember that our neighbors are very supportive of our site — despite the impact we have on their daily operations — and that all of our neighbors love iLEAD. Let’s show them the same support by parking in iLEAD parking lots ONLY as well as not blocking driveways and always yielding to our neighbors when using valet.

If you need clarification as to where to park, please ask ANY iLEAD employee. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT TURNING LEFT INTO THE VALET ENTRANCE AND OUT OF THE EXIT IS A HAZARD TO BOTH YOUR VEHICLE AND OUR LEARNERS. IT IS ALSO A TRAFFIC PATTERN DISRUPTION.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our learners and your vehicles safe!

Spotlight a Learner

Do you have a learner who is shining in their community? Email mm.avregion@ileadschools.org with their school name and what they are doing to make a difference. We want to share with our school community the difference-makers on our campus!

About Those Heelys…

We’ve seen an influx of Heelys on campus. Learners are zipping along the halls and on the playspaces. While we LOVE fun and seeing our learners enjoying themselves, we have to ask that they don’t use the wheels while at school. Please understand this is a safety concern for learners and staff. We want to prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. Heelys brand shoes can be worn; just please remove the wheels for school.

General safety guidelines also include no skateboards or bicycles being ridden on campus; they must be carried and walked.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

Exploration – Home School: New Studio Classes & Tutoring

Studio classes are offered to home study learners exclusively to explore a variety of academic topics! We will start each 6-week session with a thematic topic and guide the learners to explore multiple aspects of it. This will include a fun activity, a group discussion, and individual guidance from the Educational Facilitator (EF). During each session, EFs will provide materials, mini-lessons, activities, guidance, and expertise on an as-needed basis to support each learner with their thematic project. Parents will be updated on how they can support at home, if needed. By the end of each session, the learners who engage with the available resources will provide evidence of their growth that is related to an authentic experience!

Cost: Studio Class prices have been discounted to only $75 each per 6-week session.

Need Tutoring Help?

Sign up for any 5th-8th grade tutoring session and work one-on-one or in a small group with a qualified, credentialed teacher. This is a great way to complete work samples to turn into your EF at your monthly Learning Period (LP) meetings. Be sure to bring all needed supplies and homework with you!

Exploration – Home School: Blended Classes

Mix and Match! Sign up for both the Studio Experience and/or blended classes. Blended classes are individual, 30-minute sessions that are not designed as a “drop-off” day. Classes are held in on-campus classrooms by grade level and are integrated with both on-campus and home-study learners. This gives learners the opportunity to gradually build stronger social skills as they interact with their peers during short collaborative sessions.

Classes are only $45 each per 9-week rotation schedule:

1: AUGUST 21 – OCTOBER 26

2: OCTOBER 29 – JANUARY 25

3: JANUARY 28 – MARCH 29

4: APRIL 1 – JUNE 14th

Ask your EF for specific dates/times offered by grade level class, then submit your request for any of the following blended class options:

  • Musical Theater
  • American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Art
  • P.E.
  • Exploratorium (Computers)
  • Makery (Woodshop)
