iLEAD Lancaster Learners Shine in Their Community
Learner Profile: Rylee Van Houten
iLEAD Lancaster fourth grader Rylee Van Houten,who has been attending since kindergarten, is the 2017 America’s Miss California. She represents girls age 8-12. Rylee has served over 300 hours as Miss California Jr. Pre Teen in various capacities. She attends public events, serves the underprivileged at schools and in their communities, provides foam crowns for children going through cancer treatment in partnership with St. Jude, the City of Hope in Lancaster, and Children’s Hospital of Orange County, and supports animal rescues. She dreams of becoming an all-animal vet when she grows up. In the last three weeks she has performed in a fashion and talent show to raise funds for epilepsy, brought awareness to I.C.A.R.E. dog rescue serving all day and donating goods collected in her community at an adoption event in Brea, helped sell raffle tickets at a local event for High Fives for Stacey, a local nonprofit, and this weekend she will walk at Disneyland in a 5k to support C.H.O.C.
