Monday Message for October 29, 2017

Message from the Director

Hello iLEAD Families,

I would first like to say what a wonderful first quarter we have had. Thank you to all the parent volunteers for coming and supporting our learners and facilitators. Also, thank you for being proactive (Habit No. 1) and beginning with the end in mind (Habit No. 2) to all of you for what you do at home with your learners to make sure they are here at school and ready for exciting and fun learning.

Thank you to all our community members, families and staff for all your support and attendance to this year’s Fall Festival. Because of all of your commitment to our school, this event was a tremendous success. Just a reminder, our costume parade is Oct. 31 and we would like to welcome you all to attend in your costume. Please remember no weapons or masks, and please wear school-appropriate costumes.

Come join us on Nov. 8 at the McDonald’s on K and Challenger for McTeacher Night, where I and Mr. David, along with our staff, will be serving you, our families!

Thank you!

Costume Parade Tuesday at iLEAD

Happy Fall Y’all!

Our festive celebrations aren’t over yet. This Tuesday we will host a costume parade led by our wonderful School Director Nykole Kent. If your learner(s) wish to participate just send them in a costume on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Families are encouraged to attend and cheer on their learners, and learners who don’t participate in the parade walk enjoy cheering their friends on just as much. Please no masks or weapons or scary costumes. Parade begins at 9 a.m.!

Special Guest from NASA to Visit iLEAD

Attention attention! Al Bowers is the Chief Scientist of NASA Armstrong, the second in command to the director. He will be joining us on campus to visit with our middle school learners and will be presenting on the Prandtl Wing, Nov. 7. Please wear your NASA or iLEAD gear to show Mr. Bowers our excitement for his visit.

Fall Festival & More Fundraisers

Our Fall Festival was full of thrills and chills and lots of seasonal fun! Thank you to our families and staff for coming to support our first “Field Studies” all-school fundraiser. A big thank you to the event committee for all of your amazing planning and support. Our families have helped us raise over $1,500 for field studies (trips).

Save the date: Our next all-school fundraising event is Dec. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. and is a winter boutique! We have over 30 vendors already registered. Many of our classes will have crafts for the children while their parents shop. We will even have a special visit from Frosty the Snowman and a Sweet Cafe for some winter treats. Shop local, shop smart, and help our campus raise money for field studies! Our book fair will also be that same week. Save the date! If you would like to volunteer email Kristan.

Monday Message

Did you know that there may be multiple pages of the Monday Message you are missing every week by not scrolling to the bottom? Now also available: PDF’s of the Monday Message in the front office by noon on Monday. We are working on a Spanish version — please let us know if this is something you would like to earn volunteer hours for.

Please let us know how we can help you stay informed. Email Kristan with your ideas.

Traffic is a BEAST! This is how we slay…

Hello parents! We encourage the use of VALET for all drop-off and pickup for safety reasons. K-4 is a busy commerce street and we value the safety of our learners! Remember, if you are not using valet, all children should be walked to the front door by their parent/guardian. Learners without a chaperone will warrant a call home.

  • No learners will be released without a valet card and proper ID.
  • Please always enter our lots via driving eastbound on K-4, DO NOT turn left into our driveways and always pull as far to the right (curb) as you can get when using the valet line. PLEASE PULL TO THE CURB WHEN WAITING FOR VALET TO BEGIN. STAGGERING PICKUP PREVENTS A BACKUP DOWN AVENUE K-4. Blocking traffic is illegal Please DO NOT park in our neighbors’ lots — your vehicle will be towed.
  • Be very mindful when choosing where to park when visiting our campus for any reason. If you need to drop off your learner and valet is over, please park and walk your learner in. Learners without a parent cannot be properly checked in late.
  • Please do not double park or pull up and let your learner out in front of the school, ever. It is very dangerous.
  • Please remember that our neighbors are very supportive of our site — despite the impact we have on their daily operations — and that all of our neighbors love iLEAD. Let’s show them the same support by parking in iLEAD parking lots ONLY as well as not blocking driveways and always yielding to our neighbors when using valet.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our learners and your vehicles safe!

Innovation Studios Corner

Dear Innovation Studios’ Parents/Guardians,

We need your help to plan a school dance. If anyone is interested in heading a committee please email Mrs. Wampler (

Progress reports will be going out this week. Each learner will be given two copies, one to keep and one that needs to be signed and returned.

Service Learning Alert

As you may know from the Innovation Studios Playbook all learners are required to complete 30 hours of service learning each semester. Recently this was discussed during class where learners were given instruction on what service learning looks like. In simple terms it boils down to this: An act that benefits a person, people, or a place (like a city garden or animal shelter) that you are not otherwise compensated for. For ideas you can go to or consult with Mrs. Wampler.

Share Info on Difference Makers!

Do you have a learner who is shining in their community? Email with their school name and what they are doing to make a difference. We want to share with our school community the difference makers on our campus!

About Those Heelys…

We’ve seen an influx of Heelys on campus. Learners are zipping along the halls and on the play spaces. While we LOVE fun and seeing our learners enjoying themselves, we have to ask that they don’t use the wheels while at school. Please understand this is a safety concern for learners and staff. We want to prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. Heelys brand shoes can be worn, — just please remove the wheels for school.

General safety guidelines also include no skateboards or bicycles being ridden on campus; they must be carried and walked.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
